The stand up desk has become very popular in recent years and there are now many options for this type of furniture. If you really want to be healthy you could try a standing desk that comes with a built-in treadmill. That way you can walk or maybe even run while you work; there will never be any more need to go to the gym.
What the Standing Desk Can Do for Your Health. Sedentary lifestyles that involve prolonged periods of sitting have been linked to a variety of health problems, including obesity, heart disease and chronic back pain. Our bodies were not designed to be inactive for hours on end. Our biological processes, from metabolism to joint lubrication, rely on movement.
Standing desks have become extremely popular lately, and now they come in a lot of different shapes and sizes. Some even come with optional accessories like a built in treadmill or exercise bike (however, I am not sure sweating at work is a good idea).
Storage. One of the most important things for all desks is storage options. While most height adjustable workstations will include at least a shelf or two, this is not always enough for everyone. Some people have a great deal of paperwork or office supplies that they need to keep by their desk. That is why there are several shelving options available, including a great side shelf that you simply add to the side of your standing desk, allowing you to enjoy your extra storage. This is a great way to add extra storage to your desk for your important paperwork or even your computer tower if need be.
Back pain commonly occurs while sitting due to the strain poor posture places on the lower back. Even for people with a developed core muscle group, the abdominal muscles eventually give out during an 8-hour day of sitting, leaving the lower back muscles with the brunt of the work. When standing, your lower back muscles are assisted not only by stomach muscles, but by muscles of the pelvis, buttocks and legs to support the upper body`s weight.
